Sleep Aids from Cloud B

November 21st, 2008 at 07:48am Under Sleep / Sleep Disorders

When it comes to getting the right quality of sleep for toddlers, it all boils down to how you lay down and of course which stuff you have lying around. But thanks to the efforts of groups like Cloud B which has worked in hand with pediatricians and specialists on the issue of sleeping, some new products to aid sleep were developed to help promote a safe, sound and healthy sleep for children, and subsequently their parents.

Leading the pack is a Twilight Sea Turtle, it not only provides people lights, sounds and smell but a reminder as well towards the endangered animals. So as a whole, it is a combination of putting together eco-friendly issues and getting the healthy sleep that kids and parents both need today.

Other items that are (or will be) available include the Polar Bear Cub, the Dozy Dolphin, and Penguin, all of which use some combination of soy-based and/or bamboo fabrics and hypo-allergenic stuffing.

Lower Jet Lag Issues with Pine Extracts

November 21st, 2008 at 07:48am Under Sleep / Sleep Disorders

Jet lag has long been a problem particularly for people who frequently travel. Changes in the time zone are often the problem and having to adjust sleep, sometimes extending just to adjust to the actual time schedule of the region you may be is a problem.

Now reverting back to the regular sleeping schedule may become an issue. In fact, it can be health risk as the need to address how your body can take such is in question. With that in mind, studies have found a solution to ease the problems brought about by jet lag and it comes in the form of pine extracts called Pyncnogenol.

While Pyncnogenol has been known to reduce problems like swelling of the brain and blot clotting they have been found as related to jet lag issues.

Recharging Sensibility With Sleep

November 21st, 2008 at 07:48am Under Sleep / Sleep Disorders

Our brain can only take so much and at some point, we may have problems as far as memory issues, recalling certain events or even understanding a complicated task. Ideally, when we lack sleep, we feel haggard and long to lay back and try to reorganize our senses. Thanks to some studies conducted by the University of Chicago, it has been justified that getting the right amount of sleep does indeed help in memory problems and even bring you as far as recalling the past skills you once mastered.

“Sleep consolidated learning by restoring what was lost over the course of a day following training and by protecting what was learned against subsequent loss,” said Howard Nusbaum, Professor of Psychology at the University of Chicago, and a researcher in the study. “These findings suggest that sleep has an important role in learning generalized skills in stabilizing and protecting memory.”

The whole ordeal is quite simple. Abuse your body by sleeping less is also abusing your psychological capacity as well. With a well-rested mind through sleep, you will be amazed at the things you can do and the ease of improving your personal intellect as well.

Sleep Well with a Sleep Cycle Tracking Watch

November 21st, 2008 at 07:48am Under Sleep / Sleep Disorders

The amount of sleep have a bearing as to how we would carry out our day and our moods as well. Of course, you all know that lack of sleep is like waking up the wrong person at the wrong time and for what it is worth, it would be best to keep track of sleep, only if it were that simple.

But with this new device, the Sleep Cycle Tracking Watch, you can perhaps monitor your sleep and know when to wake up at the right time. It is somewhat similar to a modern day alarm clock only that you can monitor when you move (when you are almost awake), and wake up at the right time in a given window. Ideally, you feel refreshed every morning, ready to jump out of bed.

Sleep at a Hotel this New Year’s Eve

November 21st, 2008 at 07:48am Under Sleep / Sleep Disorders

In vast places of the globe, the New Year is normally welcomed with fireworks and noises that create both air and noise pollution. Take these two factors together and you may find yourself having difficulty sleeping. So how do you avoid it?

Deciding to stay at home and closing the windows will not help. You might end up clogging your room with smoke anyway. So why not consider spending the night in a hotel where you will most probably need a break after a tumultuous year anyway?

The price may be something to consider especially during these hard economic times. But if you are looking for the best bonus or gift to give yourself, a one time investment of around $60 to $100 for an overnight stay in hotels will not really be that bad.

Give yourself a break from the pollution this coming New Year. Sleep soundly as you welcome 2009 in style!

Keep your Kids Away from Horror Movies

November 21st, 2008 at 07:48am Under Sleep / Sleep Disorders

For some movies like suspense and horror film, there would usually be an advice with regards to the allowable age as to who can watch them. Apparently, no sane parent would want his or her child watching these things, no matter how fictitious they may be or reincarnated the scenes are. But the real deal here is that it may continue to haunt them when they sleep.

We have always believed that our subconscious selves stem from what we experience or see. For kids, it is the same thing. Some may become terrified and develop trauma, especially if they sleep alone. In the course of their growth and development, it can become a bearing and is a burden that they would bring up to their elderly ages.

So as much as possible, avoid the gruesome movies for now for your kids. There is the right time to show it to them and apparently you, as a parent, would know when that right time would be.

Use Tea Bags to Treat your Pesky Eye Bags

November 21st, 2008 at 07:47am Under Sleep / Sleep Disorders

One thing that can make people sleepy or easily irritated would be the presence of eye bags which can be the result of a late night, too little water or the natural aging process. Now as far as adults are concerned, it can be a drag especially if you want to avoid wanting to sleep practically all the time because of the heaviness that they bring.

One good thing to do is find ways to try and remedy them. Some have used vegetables like cucumber but tea can be a good cure as well. Drinking tea is one thing but after doing so, do not throw away the tea bags as you can actually apply them and place them on the area for curing.

If you don’t want to use these tea bags immediately, just store them in your ref and take them out when you have time to relax. Lay back at the most comfortable position possible, place the tea bags on the eyes with the puffy bags for 5 to 20 minutes or longer and you will notice the impact that they can bring in getting rid of those puffy eye bags you hate.

The Great Fall Sleep-A-Thon

November 21st, 2008 at 07:47am Under Sleep / Sleep Disorders

It seems that more people these days are trying to reach out and get everyone aware that not all of us have the luxury to sleep in cozy beds or homes. In fact, a large number of people in most states today often wander out into the streets and look for sane places to rest and sleep. Some have made do with abandoned buildings or even the standard alleys. But the fact of the matter is, these are no places for a person to sleep in.

So we have another sponsor to raise this awareness. While there was already a previous post for a call to address the sleepless and the homeless here is another effort being pushed by “The Singing Machine”, which has proudly announced that it is sponsoring the Miami Rescue Mission and Broward Outreach Center “Great Fall Sleep-A-Thon.”

“The Singing Machine has some of the most wonderful people working there and they are also working very hard to help our organization” commented Nina Corbe, Community Development Associate at the Broward Outreach Center in Pompano. “We are so grateful for their involvement.”
